I was diagnosed with heart failure in June 2013 and after months of being in and out of the hospital I was finally put on the heart transplant list at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY in November 2013. Strong was ‘my home’ from November 18, 2103 until I finally received a heart transplant on June 20, 2014. Before becoming ill, I was self-employed with my own commercial cleaning business and had no health insurance. With being hospitalized and so ill for over a year, my business suffered, medical bills started piling up and money became very tight. The medications to keep my new heart ticking are over $10,000 a month alone, not to mention everyday expenses. I reached out to Gaunches Unite for any help they could provide for me and they came through. I am very thankful and grateful to Gaunches Unite and what they have done for me!!
